Sweet Potato Pie
When I was a kid my mother use to make sweet potato pies, those pies was so good I would stay in the kitchen watching my mother baking them so I could be the first one to taste that great flavor.
Today I want to share with you my love for baking by sharing this recipe that I learned from my mother.
Sweet Potato Pie
Baking Goodness
This recipe is really super simple and I'm sure you and your family will love.
Ingredients
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
1 1/4 cups cane sugar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tbl ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
3/4 tsp sea salt
3 whole eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 oz heavy whipping cream
2 large, or (1 1/2 lbs) freshly baked sweet potato, mashed
1 unbaked 9" deep dish pie shell
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Method
In medium bowl combine: sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. set aside. In a large bowl: beat eggs, add your heavy cream and melted butter. Stir in your vanilla. Gradually stir in your sweet potato beat until just incorporated. Add you spice mixture. Beat well. Pour mixture into prepared pie shell.
Bake in oven for 10- minutes at 425 degrees. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake 45-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack 2 1/2 hours.
Serve immediately, or refrigerate.
